Birgi Airport, Sicily. June 15th. Ryanair Flight FR6073 – Trapani/Rome. A nightmare “day” for an American tourist arrived to the local airport.
The first problem. At the check-in the luggage was 14 kilos overweight. The lady at the desk told the tourist she should divide the weight into two different luggages but she wasn’t able to explain the reason of this division though she had to pay anyway a taxation for the overweight.
After a long discussion, more or less thirty minutes, the Airgest personal told the tourist to go to the ticket office for the payment of the overweight (24 euro x kg). Costs 336 euro plus 120 payd for the ticket, equal to … 547 US dollars, plus problems at airport and on board.
No bad for a low cost flight!
Unfortunately, at the end, the baggage was embarked without any division!
At the gate the tourist had no problems with her hand-luggage that was under the size prescribed by Ryanair. But on board, the crew chief, stopped her because the same hand-luggage was oversize! Before taking off the luggage was stored into the bulk.
Following the American tourist, other passengers came on board carrying hand luggages largest than the one of the American lady (see the photos).

And … others !
At the end, once we landed at Ciampino airport, the American tourist clearly said: “If this is the way to say welcome to the tourists, I’ll never come back to Sicily.”
Thanks to Ryanair !
